CATARACTS ARE THE LEADING CAUSE OF BLINDNESS WORLDWIDE
Cataracts cloud the vision of millions, leading to blindness if untreated. In South Africa, over 200,000 people suffer from cataract-related blindness, significantly affecting their quality of life and ability to work.
Our Mission
Preventing Avoidable Blindness The Gift of Sight Trust is dedicated to preventing and treating avoidable blindness among individuals who cannot afford private healthcare or face long waits in public healthcare facilities. Global Initiative Alignment The organization actively reduces the backlog of cataract and retinal surgeries in South Africa, aligning with the global initiative of the WHO and IAPB to eliminate avoidable blindness. Vision for the Future Their vision is a world where no one is unnecessarily visually impaired, and those with unavoidable vision loss have access to comprehensive eye care services.
