Dr. Rautenbach’s journey in ophthalmology began after graduating cum laude with an MBChB from
the University of the Free State in 2010. Inspired by the transformative impact of cataract surgery
during her internship and community service in the rural areas of the Eastern Free State, she
dedicated herself to this field.
Dr. Rautenbach completed her specialist training in ophthalmology at the University of
Stellenbosch. She holds qualifications including a Dip Ophth (SA) from the College of
Ophthalmology of South Africa, and an MMed Ophth, cum laude. The Justin van Selm MEDAL was
awarded to her for outstanding performance in the Fellowship examination of the College of
Ophthalmologists of South Africa for 2020.

Dr. Rautenbach has further enhanced her skills through various international courses, including
Clinical Methodology in Refractive, Cataract, and Corneal Surgery (University Migual Hernandez),
the Refractive Forefront Surgery Course (London Vision Clinic) and the Canabrava International
Fellowship Program in Advanced Cataract Surgery.
Currently, enrolled as a fellow of the Refractive Surgery Alliance Network, accredited by the World
College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences, Dr. Rautenbach remains at the forefront of
innovative treatments.
In 2020, she joined the esteemed team at Tygervalley Eye & Laser Clinic, where she continues to
provide personalized care and advanced treatments. With a passion for restoring sight and
enhancing quality of life, Dr. Rautenbach is dedicated to delivering outstanding outcomes for every
patient.
