Dr. Rautenbach’s journey in ophthalmology began after graduating cum laude with an MBChB from the University of the Free State in 2010. Inspired by the transformative impact of cataract surgery during her internship and community service in the rural areas of the Eastern Free State, she committed herself to this field.

She completed her specialist training in ophthalmology at the University of Stellenbosch, earning a Dip Ophth (SA) from the College of Ophthalmology of South Africa, as well as an MMed Ophth (cum laude). In 2020, she was awarded the Justin van Selm Medal for outstanding performance in the Fellowship examination of the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa.

To further expand her expertise, Dr. Rautenbach has pursued international courses and training, including:

• Clinical Methodology in Refractive, Cataract, and Corneal Surgery (University of Miguel Hernández, Spain)
• Refractive Forefront Surgery Course (London Vision Clinic, UK)
• Canabrava International Fellowship Program in Advanced Cataract Surgery (Brazil)
• Two-Year Refractive Surgery Fellowship through the Refractive Surgery Alliance (RSA) Network, accredited by the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences (WCRSVS) and she is also a Fellow of the WCRSVS.

Since joining the esteemed team at Tygervalley Eye & Laser Centre in 2020, Dr. Rautenbach has been dedicated to providing highly personalized care, with a special focus on cataract, refractive, and corneal surgery. With a passion for restoring sight and enhancing quality of life, she is committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for every patient.
