Dr Johann Krüger is an internationally respected ophthalmologist with over 30 years of surgical experience in restoring and preserving vision. Since 1993, he has specialised in minimally invasive
laser, cataract, refractive, corneal, and glaucoma surgery, offering precision care tailored to each patient.
As a pioneer in refractive surgery in South Africa, Dr Krüger was among the first in the world and in South Africa to implant Intraocular Contact Lenses (ICLs). In 2016, he also introduced
IRPL (Intense Regulated Pulsed Light) therapy to South Africa to treat dry eyes caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.
Dr Krüger is the founder of three dedicated private eye hospitals in the Western Cape:
- Tygervalley Eye Laser and Cataract Centre
- Waterfront Eye & Laser Hospital
- Paarl Eye Laser and Cataract Centre
He is a founding member of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences and co-founder of the
International Society for Bilateral Simultaneous Cataract Surgery, which helped change global surgical practice.
Dr Krüger has delivered more than 500 international presentations and published numerous chapters and peer-reviewed papers.
