Crystalens Surgery
You would expect your vision to be clearer after cataract surgery, but did you ever expect it to be this clear without glasses? With the revolutionary Crystalens procedure, you will be able to regain your vision better than you ever hoped. Crystalens is the ultimate cataract treatment that improves vision to such an extent that you will no longer require glasses for excellent vision.
Cataracts: a natural part of aging
During the aging process, the eye's natural crystalline lens often stiffens and hardens, clouding vision and creating a cataract. Developing cataracts doesn’t mean permanent loss of vision however, and with many treatment options available patients can regain their vision in no time. Cataract surgery is not only safe and effective; it is also one of the most commonly performed surgeries performed across the world, with a high success rate and excellent results.
The Crystalens advantage
Crystalens replacement lenses enable patients to regain full range of vision, flexing like the eye’s natural lens, to allow short, middle and distance sight. No other replacement lens is able to mirror the natural focusing ability of the eye as well as this lens. Crystalens surgery is FDA approved and permanent. The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis, and takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Patients are able to return to normal activities within a few days.
Improved near, intermediate and distance vision
After surgery you will seldom need you glasses for near, intermediate or distance vision, ensuring excellent eye sight at almost all times. You will be able to read books and newspapers, see computers, dashboards and other items at arms length and see 20/40 across a room without the use of your glasses.
Is Crystalens right for you?
Your physician will perform a thorough eye exam to determine the appropriate treatment. You may be a good candidate for Crystalens:
- If your eyes are healthy
- If you have not had previous cataract surgery
- If you have no major health problems
- Even if you have had a refractive procedure such as Lasik
Potential complications
Please be advised that implantation of Crystalens HD lenses is a surgical procedure, and like any other procedure it may entail some risk. These are generally the same potential risks that exist for implanting all intraocular lenses. As Crystalens has a smaller optic compared to the standard IOL, glare and other visual disturbances may occur under certain lighting conditions, including night-time when the pupil widely dilates. Your surgeon can determine if Crystalens is right for you and explain the risks involved. After a thorough examination, you will be fully informed of any increased risk of complications. Due to the fact that Crystalens only absorbs a portion of ultraviolet light, patients are advised to wear sunglasses with UV400 protection during the day.
Indications for use
Crystalens intraocular lens is indicated for implantation for the visual correction of aphakia secondary to the removal of a cataractous lens in adult patients with or without presbyopia.
