The First Intralase/Femtosecond Laser in Cape Town

The Tygervalley Eye & Laser Centre is the first clinic in the Western Cape to offer the Intralase laser for refractive surgery, better known as iLASIK surgery.

The Femtosecond laser is also used for corneal transplant surgery in patients with Keratoconus.  We are also the first clinic in the Western Cape to offer the Intralase laser for inserting Kera/Ferrara rings in patients with Keratoconus.  It has been shown that using the Femtosecond laser for all these procedures is not only more accurate, but also safer than the mechanical surgical methods.

For more information about this new technology, contact The Tygervalley Eye & Laser Centre at 021 9100 300 or "info @ eyelaserclinic.co.za", or visit www.eyelaserclinic.co.za.

In the early 1980’s, they began looking at lasers to improve the precision and predictability of altering the shape of the cornea. Researchers found that the Excimer laser could remove tissue with up to 0.25 microns of accuracy. Now, in its second decade of use, the technologically advanced Excimer laser has added a tremendous amount of precision, control and safety to the surgical correction of vision errors. Using this remarkable technology, the cornea is reshaped to conform to your glasses or contact lenses.
